PHOLA COAL HONOURED WITH FFPS SAFETY AWARD AT COALSAFE 2025

Congratulations to the Phola Coal team on earning the prestigious Fatality-Free Production Shifts (FFPS – 11 392) Safety Award at COALSAFE 2025! This remarkable milestone reflects the team’s unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and a steadfast culture of safety. Since the plant’s inception in 2009, Minopex has proudly operated and maintained the facility, partnering with the Phola joint venture management team to embed world-class safety standards from day one—today’s achievement is a testament to that long-standing collaboration.

This year also marks a historic first for COALSAFE: the iconic safety trophy has been reimagined. No longer featuring the traditional male figure, it now proudly symbolizes Women in Mining (WIM). This bold redesign—delivered in partnership with SACMA, the Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC), and the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE)—underscores our collective commitment to inclusivity and diversity across the mining sector.
